Nissan Skyline R34

Needs no introduction

One might think that it's easy to write an introduction to a car that every car enthusiast knows, and when there are hundreds, maybe thousands of articles written about the Skyline R34 and even we wrote about it previously HERE, it should be easy to come up with something. But that's the point, it was all said before and there's not much more what a person can say about the R34 in general.

Instead, let's just focus on this one, because it's yellow and exciting!

JPS Nissan Skyline R34

Okay, right now you are wondering what does "JPS" stand for, so let me clarify that. JPS, or JPS Trade Sales, is a car dealer in Kerry. But this is not your regular "quick sale" dealer. No , Jason, the owner, is the kind of person that's very into cool cars and like to be surrounded by all sorts of fast cars. He buys cars that he likes, restores or modify them to his liking, and maybe, just maybe, after a while he'd be whiling to let them go.

It's the same story with this R34. Through word of mouth, he found this R34 GT 2.0 N/A Automatic somewhere in Wicklow. Pretty straight car, wouldn't need more than a paint refresh to have it 100%. But not a 2.0 N/A automatic, that's just not right in anyone's book.

When you think about the Skyline R34, the first thing that comes to mind is the GT-R, usually a blue one. But this isn't a GT-R and the plan wasn't to build another GT-R replica. So Jason did the next best thing, a proper turbocharged RB engine and a manual gearbox were swapped into this Skyline. Over the next couple of months, the car was stripped down to a bare shell, resprayed and rebuilt from thr ground up.

Jason, in his own words:

I wanted a proper resto-mod, I kept the kit factory option Nismo without anything too extreme. I didn't want the more popular GT-R rep as it's not a GT-R. I wanted to spend more on the mechanicals and get the power to where it is today, a healthy 343bhp set up by TDP on their rollinng road. My vision was just to have one of the cleanest and straightest R34s in Ireland. The're getting very rare now so didn't want to mess it up. All the original parts are still here if I want to return it to standard. I have gone as far as I wanted at the moment, my next option would be to change the ECU, turbo and injectors and aim for circa 550bhp. I just dont think it needs it, it's very happy at 350 bhp!

I asked Jason why did he chose this car, expecting him to say "Because I saw it in Fast&Furious", but he said:

I love the old skool jap looks and the general shape. Dealing with modern cars regularly they all look and drive the same almost, We'll never see the mad days of the 90s/00's with such a variety out there!
