1982 Porsche 911

Porsche 911

It was Saturday morning, the sky was clear, sun was up, overall a great day for mid February. It got even better when Ivan messaged us about his car, he was ready for the shoot we were talking about for the past week. We dropped everything, packed our gear and drove to Ballyhass Lakes, we got permission to shoot there. We saw a few images of the car before, but nothing prepared us for what it actually was, pictures did not do this car any justice.

Many years ago, Ivan's father set out to buy a nice Porsche 911. He went to the UK with his best friend Paul and Ivan's uncle to look for, specifically, a 911. They searched for days and went to see nearly a dozen 911's before they finally found what they were looking for. The car was perfect in any way, so it had to be brought over to Ireland.

In his own words, Ivan is telling us:

"This car always holds a space in my heart for many reasons. Growing up as a kid I always would have had a poster of a 911 on my wall as would most kids into cars as it's such an iconic supercar from that era! It would always give us an exciting feeling to bring it out for a drive. That that personal time, my father and I, would get to spend together when away for a random spin, anywhere at all, makes this car special too."

"I still get that buzz whenever I sit down into the car myself and fire it up, it gives you a sense of freedom when taking it out for a blast. The noise alone will put a smile on your face but it's the excitement of driving it on a little that really makes this car worth having, they are known to be a handful of a car to a handle as they will not forgive you if the rear of the car steps out and breaks traction. But knowing this fact really keeps you on your toes and makes the driving experience more eventful ever time. "

"Being a car fanatic all my life and having such a range of different cars, what I love most about this car is the fact that it's a REAL drivers car, it's a handful to handle, has a clutch so stiff your leg will go dead if stuck in any traffic and no power steering to assist you, which makes the driving experience more personal to the road... With it's full Porsche track day performance suspension, it clings you to the road with zero body roll so comfort isn't a strong point either, an after market full stainless, twin exhaust system sure means the car is not quiet, but all these things add up to proving why this generation of 911 truly is the best, it's the most raw of them and it's the exact car people picture in their minds when you think of a 911."

Making this article was a true pleasure, shooting a car like this always being a challenge because is hard capturing the looks of the car, the sound, the feel of it. We would like to thank Ivan for taking the time for the shoot and Ballyhass Wake Park for allowing us to use their wonderful location.
