Rock n Rumble - Cork 2017
It happens once each year, and it only gets better
In it's fourth year of life, "Rock 'n Rumble" is fast turning into a tradition in Cork. It started out small, just a barbecue between the guys at GAScc (Great American Steel car club) about nine years ago when the club was founded and, through dedication and hard work, it evolved into what it is today. a festival of cars, bikes, good music and tasty food.
When you hear the title "Rock n Rumble", you might think about some rock music festival, with loud music and teens banging heads, doing some crazy things that their parents would certainly not be too proud of, but is something completely different. It does have rock music, it is a bit loud but it's a nice, kid friendly place to be on a Saturday, a place where all, of all ages, are welcome. Unless you don't like cool cars, good music and tasty food, in which case you are either lying or you are out of your mind.
What makes is great? This is an easy one
The people: while there are plenty more similar events around the world, the GAScc guys managed to give this fest a "friendly, family" feeling. As soon as you arrive, you feel that you belong there, that everybody is a friend.
The cars: it doesn't matter what type of car enthusiast you are, I'm sure you can appreciate American cars from all ages. The variety itself is stunning, a fully restored Chevy truck in pristine condition just meters away from another Chevy truck, rat-style, lowered on air bags, fast Fords next to fast Chevys, big Caddys next to Plymouths and Pontiacs but you still get to see some Minis, Porsches and even some Jap cars. No one is left out.
For this year's event, GAScc partnered up with CAB Motors, MBT Transport, QuickFit Motors and Fins Autospares & Precise Control, just so they can make the event even bigger and better. CAB Motors even brought some of their 2017 cars to be showcased, including the famous Mustang dressed in a stunning red colour.
Big thumbs up to all involved in this event and also all who attended. Rumor has it that next year, considering it's going to be the club's 10th anniversary, there will be a big celebration, details to follow, but from what I've seen this year, next one should be mind blowing.
